Turtle Abyss

My first trip to Hawaii.......and definitely not my last. We traveled to Maui for a wedding, when we were not concentrating on wedding stuff, i was head down in the surf shooting. I have never shot underwater before, and after only a few days I am completely hooked. This was one of my favorite images from the week. As the turtle moved away into the shallower water to get away from all the tourists, I continued to shoot. I love the amount of dead space in the image, and the fact that the turtle is far away and as a silhouette. So many photographers (myself included) concentrate on getting up close, when sometimes the best images are made from a distance
