Much time had passed since Emily was first created and she had grown darker and darker with hate for her creator. She knew that the Dollmaker was obsessed with perfection and that the only way to free herself from her control, was to inflict damage upon herself. Her black magic had finally grown so powerful that she was able to find a way to snap one of the strings that had kept her prisoner for so long, causing her to fall and break. Throughout my life people have constantly tried to shoot my aspirations down, and have made it their mission to make me feel like I had no control over my own future, forever telling me to do things a certain way or preventing me from progressing. So creating this image felt like an important turning point in my career, because it felt like I had finally found a way to stop listening to all the negativity around me. I realised I could create whatever I wanted, rather than what was expected of me. I became encouraged knowing that my work did not have to be perfect, but just had to come from the heart.
