Lindsay Adler and Dani Diamond are two very well-known photographers, both lauded for their creative and striking portraiture and fashion photography. So, if you were to pit them against each other in a shoot-off, who do you think would win? This awesome video does just that, and you will learn quite a bit along the way.
Coming to you from V-Flat World, this great video pits Lindsay Adler and Dani Diamond against each other in a shoot-off. Both photographers are well known for their work, but they both have different approaches. The most notable difference is that Diamond generally photographs with natural light, while Adler is known for her masterful command of artificial lighting from a single light up to complex multi-source setups. And while they both have starkly different ways of creating images, they both have complete command of their respective approaches, and it is a real joy to watch them both work. And beyond just being fun to watch, you can learn quite a lot by watching how they each light, direct, pose, and edit their photos. Check out the video above to see what Adler and Diamond created, and be sure to mention who took your favorite image in the comments!
This is one of the better videos I have watched recently on Fstoppers, very enjoyable with two wonderfully talented photographers. Classy cool and very inspirational!
Glad you enjoyed it! Happy holidays.
"Us natural light guys don't know what we're doing...", LOL!
He is so funny.
Very nice. I was more drawn to Lindsay's images. They just have this very high-end fashion feel to them.
Thank you! <3 <3
so painful to watch, had to stop halfway through. This is not how professional photographers work this is how internet gurus plugging v flats, sony and canon work. Nothing but a commercial for the masses...
I don't know, yes they are using brands and make a point at naming them but I think the exercise outweigh the commercial part. The way I look at it is they actually do things with those items unlike most of the gurus you make allusion to. I liked it and watched the entire thing despite not being in portrait photography. I think challenges are great to refuel batteries. I don't do outdoor photography because I would not have the patience but I like to think of the process these guys go through. They plan trips, minimal camping, getting through cold, rain, heat exhaustion from walking climbing etc with no guaranty to get one shot they want, but when it happens, it's probably not a short lived moment. I can imagine the excitement all the way back home, what ever amount of time that takes, and how they imagine already processing the images.
There were no winner here, that was not the point. This was good. Get out and challenge yourself no matter what you know or use is what I get from this video.
Really enjoyed the video. I would give it he edge to Lindsay.

Love both of you. But Lindsays images are amazing…way to go girl! 5 minutes and those images…. Stunning!!! Lindsay you have a new fan crush!
Awww thanks Brian!
Two interesing photographers, a beautiful model, the cobblestone streets and brick buildings, all captivating. And major props to the videographer who did a great job filming and the editor, all who made this a first cabin production
The video guy also edited it! His my guy and hes soooooooo talented. Thanks for watching Robert and happy holidays!
We have at 7:09 the best photography of this challenge, at least for me. I,m in love with Danny but Lindsay is Galactic...sweet, incredible and she handle strobes like goddess. Incredible, Awesome work for both. God Save the Queen.
Two solid photographers having the privilege to shoot a great model in nice outfits.
Both are doing great work and a lot to learn from both.
Adler have developed a style that makes her create iconic images in 10 min. It’s amazing. But if all did like her it would be boring. Diamonds picture maybe don’t have that dramatic touch, but he is one top of his style, just as much. Great work and so fun to watch, I have not enjoyed a photo related video more, ever.
Two incredibly talented photographers with infectious personalities that add that extra dimension to getting the best from your talent. Lovely images from Dani but Lindsay wins this by a country mile. Her images have the Wow! factor that would have you coming back for more and more. Great to see her professionalism and talent under, albeit fun, a competitive situation. Thoroughly enjoyed the video.
Love this! Anyone know how can I can learn to get the golden skin tones in the first look like Lindsay and Dani's photos?
