"This photo's purpose was to conceptualize an idea from imagination and make it a reality. It was all about the process. It started with chicken scratch ideas written in the notebook, then made its way to the sketchpad. This is where the initial idea and concept takes on a life of it's own and begins to create itself. Next came the logistics of all shoots; location? model? hair? wardrobe etc. I had just met a couple of people a week prior who bought the top floor of this old mill-like building in which they began to renovate and turn into studio/living space. It was PERFECT. I contacted them and the next week I was in shooting an entire day in the location. I had brought all of my lighting equipment, and ended up not using a single thing besides a camera. The natural light was simply beautiful.
I had never done a composited "levitation" shot, so this was the first experiment if you will. The final image is also about 3-4 photos stitched together. This was done in order to create a larger image." -Ross Gronvold
