"The New York skyline's pervasive presence in the lives of Brooklynites is one of the many perks of living in this outer borough. I am treated to this view when driving along the BQE, when running along the Brooklyn waterfront, and when riding a subway into the city. This view of the outstretched city never fails to confound me; I love where I live.
One aspect I especially love about NYC is the city's ability to take on multiple, varying personalities. On a sunny day, the skyline can serve almost as a quiet, friendly companion, safeguarding the day's undertakings. With the help of the Empire State Building's nightly color changes, the city can be patriotic with its red, white and blue, or proud with a full display of the rainbow. Within the predictable architecture overlooking my Brooklyn home, so many variables help shape the different moods this skyline creates.
This picture was taken when my wife and I were out walking our dog. The sight of the city stopped us in our tracks. Watching such a mighty sky blanket this beloved city left us with the wonderful sensation of feeling so small. It was a real pleasure being able to capture this moment." -Armando Espinoza
