The Easiest And Fastest Way To Learn Adobe Lightroom
The Fstoppers Intro to Lightroom: The Ultimate Crash Course has been designed to give you comprehensive ground-up training on creating professional images within Lightroom. If you are new to Lightroom, or simply want to take your developing skills to a new level, this course will guide you through everything you need to know when it comes to professionally post producing images within Lightroom. With over 40 exercise files and well over 20 start to finish edits, we cover virtually every type of popular post production look and style. From making your high definition images pop with beautiful colors, to creating soft and silky skin tones for portraiture, to realistic vintage and filmic effects.
Learn From The Best Lightroom Instructor
When Fstoppers decided to team up with someone to produce an all inclusive tutorial on Adobe Lightroom, we knew the single best instructor was Pye Jirsa. Pye has been teaching Lightroom for over 4 years now and has become one of the most sought out educators in the business. By mixing humor with concise and easy to follow demonstrations, Pye Jirsa makes learning easy and fun. After watching just a few chapters of the tutorial you will be mastering complex techniques in no time.
Follow Along With Full High Res Files
We understand the best way to learn is by being actively involved in the process. To help you get the most out of this tutorial, we have included every high resolution RAW file. This makes it easy to follow alongside Pye and practice each technique with the exact same files shown in the video.
Improving Your Workflow
One of the most important things for any photographer is creating a streamlined workflow so you can spend more time behind the camera instead of behind your computer monitor. Lightroom has become the premiere software for quickly editing and exporting your entire photo sessions. However, even with this powerful software it can still take a novice hours and hours to cull, edit, and batch an entire wedding or event. Pye will teach you how to speed through your images by optimizing your software settings, building adjustment presets, and automating many of the most common edits you perform session after session.
Learn At Your Own Pace
Watching hours and hours of educational material can be time consuming and boring. We have separated each skill set into its own chapter so you can watch any lesson and learn at your own pace. While each section builds upon itself, we have designed this tutorial so you can skip chapters while still being able to follow along with Pye.
What Is covered in this Tutorial:
Creating a Catalog and Importing – In this chapter we cover the entire catalog creation and import process while taking into consideration good workflow along the way.
Interface Module and Basics – In this video, we review the entire Lightroom interface and module basics while giving you tips and tricks regarding our favorite features and shortcuts throughout.
Scratching the Develop Module Itch - Basic Processing Part 1 – We know everyone wants to jump into developing and creating awesome images. In this section, we take a quick break from learning Lightroom mechanics to jump into the Develop module and process our first exercise file.
Important Pre-Work Optimization – Before diving into image processing, it is important to review the options relating to setting up an optimized Lightroom workspace. In this video, we spend a few minutes going through important workflow related options in the Preferences dialogue that will greatly improve your Lightroom workflow and experience.
Scratching the Develop Module Itch - Basic Processing Part II – In this chapter, we again step away from Lightroom mechanics to develop another image. This time we are showing you how to develop a wedding portrait of a beautiful bride.
Culling and Organizing Images – When it comes to developing hundreds and even thousands of images, it is important to have a good system to cull and organize your photos. In this tutorial, we show you several methods for Lightroom culling, as well as our preferred approach to culling and image organization.
Diving into RAW – Here we show you the differences between developing RAW vs standard JPEG images.
Using the Library Filter System – We step back into the Library module to discuss the Library Filter System which is another feature and component in Lightroom that will greatly help you manage, organize and find particular images.
Batch Processing and Synchronizing – Batch processing and synchronizing Develop Module settings from one image to the next is one of the most powerful features of Lightroom, and arguably the most important feature in a quick and efficient workflow. Here, we show you several different ways to synchronize and batch process images along with our favorite techniques.
Fix Those Underexposed Images! – In this chapter, we are going to demonstrate how to correct and process a RAW file that is heavily underexposed. In this tutorial, we will be focusing on not only correcting exposure, but also in making the correct adjustments to retrieve overall contrast and tonality while not adding too much grain or destroying too much detail.
Overexposed, Not to Worry! – In this section, we are going to flip to an overexposed image and show you techniques on recovering tonality and detail in an overexposed RAW file.
Adding Brushes for an Extra KICK – Brushes are an important and incredibly powerful feature within Lightroom. We show you how you can add extra pop and contrast via Brushes to particular areas of an image.
Maximizing Dynamic Range – In this chapter, we are going to take a landscape photo and show you how to process the image to maximize dynamic range via overall and localized tone mapping. The results will blow your mind in just how far we can push a correctly exposed RAW image.
Awesome Panaramas – In this tutorial we will be walking through the process of individually processing, combining and then finalizing a beautiful panoramic landscape shot of Bryce Canyon.
Timeless Black and Whites – Creating a properly toned black and white isn’t as simple as just hitting “V” inside of the Develop Module. In this tutorial, we will be showing you how to create a timeless high-contrast black and white image with a matte and colorized finish.
Going Vintage with Curves – Curves are incredibly powerful and in this tutorial we are going to show you how to create vintage toning using curves.
Soft and Silky Skin Tones – Creating soft and silky skin tones can often be tricky. In this tutorial we show you how to create beautiful and soft skin tones with an image that is challenging from a colorization perspective.
Poppy Portraiture – In this tutorial, we show you how to create a high contrast look with a portrait image. The key is keeping good skin tones while producing a high contrast look to the image.
Bright and Airy Colors – Lifestyle photography features a bright and airy look to the images. In this tutorial, that is the exact look we will focusing on creating. Our goal is to create a beautiful and soft vintage feel to the image with bright and airy colors.
Extreme Crops – In this chapter we demonstrate how to make extreme crops to ultra-high resolution images. With such an extreme crop, we will be demonstrating how to modify overall sharpening and detail to retain enough detail in your image despite cropping away 80% of the file.
Ordinary to Extraordinary – Many images we capture aren’t necessarily “great” to begin with. In this tutorial we are going to show you how to create an extraordinary image out of a very ordinary image to start out. We will be focusing on creating a heavily faded black and white filmic look to the image.
That Magazine Matte Finish – In this tutorial, we are going to use an editorial equestrian fashion shoot image to create a final image with an editorial matte finish that you might see in a high fashion magazine.
Retouching in Lightroom, YEP! – Many people don’t realize just how powerful Lightroom can be as a retouching tool. In this tutorial, we are going to demonstrate just how much you can do with Lightroom’s Local Adjustment Tools when it comes to portrait retouching.
When to Retouch in Photoshop – In this video, we are going to show you an example of when you need to step into Photoshop for advanced retouch or effects.
Ruggedly Strong Black and Whites – In this tutorial, we will be creating a very “strong” and high contrast black and white look that is wonderful for images with a strong masculine tone.
Getting Wild on the Dance Floor – If you shoot events, then this tutorial is for you! In this tutorial, we are going to process a dance floor image to get a beautiful high contrast and dramatic look to exciting dance floor imagery.
Soft and Creamy Newborns – Editing newborn images requires just a little more smoothing than a typical portrait. In this tutorial, we will be processing a newborn photo where we smooth skin tones and also even out some of the uneven colorization that is common with newborn skin.
Tilt-Shift Baby! – Lightroom also lets you create some specialty effects. We will be teaching you how to create a simple faux tilt-shift effect within Lightroom.
Producing for the Mood – Here we are going to be producing an image for more of a “moody” look with a heavy warm colorization with a cinematic feel.
Detail Shots to Impress – For those that shoot weddings and event details, we will be showing you how to create a vivid, yet clean high contrast look to your detail shots.
How Presets Can Change Your World! – In this video, we will demonstrate how to create Develop Module presets and show you how presets can truly improve your overall workflow and creative potential.

Exporting for Print – Learn how to export and prepare your images for printing.
Exporting for Web - In this tutorial, we demonstrate how to export and prepare your images for web based usage.
Importing via Tethered Capture – Tethered capture is a great way to import while shooting in order to preview and check your images while shooting in the studio. In this video we show you how to setup and shoot tethered to Lightroom.
Advanced Exporting Methods – In this tutorial we will be teaching you advanced methods of exporting featuring Lightrooms Publish Services.
I bought the course (with discount) how do I get it or download it.
Hey Adriann, I just sent you an email. I don't see any record of it on our system or through paypal. Is it possible the transaction did not go through correctly? Email me back and we will straighten it out.
It was my mistake. It never got charged to my credit card. It's ordered now and I am downloading. Thanks for the prompt response. You guys are super.
Awesome DVD and solid price. I watched this course from start to finish as part of the test group and I have to say it's exactly what you need to jump into Lightroom.
FYI: someone had a small issue with the spelling on the file list when I went to download, Click here to access Fstoppers Lightroom Crash Coarse Workshop File 1
Does it comes in Spanish?? :S
Hi. Is this based on Lightroom 4 or 5?
Lightroom 5
Hola, es posible en español?
Would love to buy this course, but alas, yet again, PayPal is flakey and will not accept my works-everywhere-else-but-PayPal Visa debit card.
Please ditch this crappy payment system and use something reliable that works around the world, not just the US. An alternative would at least be useful - ANYTHING BUT PAYPAL. :(
Otherwise, great work, keep it up, wish I could pay you for more of it !
I bought this course and did one download. Unfortunately I lost the computer. Is it possible to do a second download?
Hi, I purchased the coarse and downloaded all the videos. I don't see the original image files to work along with. Could you point me in the right direction please?
I purchased the SLR Lounge Lightroom course back in December I believe. Would this be the same as that or does this offer something more?
Terry if you have the Lightroom Workshop Collection, then you are set. This workshop is a ground up crash course designed for those that don't necessarily want the extra content in the Workshop Collection (i.e. workflow + presets)
Thank for the reply Pye. By the way you do a great job on your tutorials. Between you and Laura Shoe I really use Lightroom now.
After a few false starts I finally received the workshop image files and am now happily working along with Pye. Great service in the end to get the issue sorted out. Highly recommend this coarse and Fstoppers!
How do I get that discount I hear about. I want to get this lightroom crash course.
Roger, this product was just released. There is no discount code available for it. We might be offering a slight discount around the holidays in Dec
Im wondering whether i should purchase this crash course or the slr lightroom workshop collection? which one includes more content that will ultimately be most beneficial for learning lightroom?
Does it come with preset also ?
No, this tutorial is the bare basics (which is still a lot of info) but Pye does teach how to make your own presets. If you want the actual presets he uses on a daily basis, you have to purchase those separately through their portal in the FS Store.
Thank you!
This looks like a great course. But I've also looked at the SLR Lounge Lightroom Workshop Collection. I understand that's a much more comprehensive set of tutorials (including presets). For someone who's been taking pictures for a long time, but who's just starting out learning post-production, which is the better option? Will the longer course be too much information too soon? Thanks for building what look like a great set of tutorials!
The intro course we have with Pye from SLR Lounge is a basic starter course for those who have never used lightroom at all. In typical Pye Jirsa fashion, he covers a TON of information in the Intro tutorial that should be enough for the majority of LR users. If you want to grow into more advanced edits after watching this tutorial you can always purchase their present system later.
Thanks!
Does the preset system comes with the course?
What is the different in this one and The SLR Lounge Lightroom Workshop Collection 5?? i have the the LR Workshop collection 5 already
Workshop Collection 5 is way more detailed and advanced. This one is primarily for beginners who are just looking to get into using Lightroom
This course says new currently but reading the comments it appears to have been available for approx 6 months, can you clarify please?
Also can you please assist with clarifying whether the full lightroom course with the presets including is this course plus the additional elements such as presets etc? Or are they two completely separate courses?
Thanks. John
Hi. This is the first time I buy tutorial from you guys but i havent received any link for download yet.
I just resent you new links. Make sure you are checking the email associated with your paypal account or the email you typed in. It is under a hotmail account
Thanks! I thought it was the primary email I left.
Hi Patrick
I am really keen to buy this package, just wanted to know if it includes presets and different brush types, thanks
Hi, just moved from Aperture to Lightroom 6 (and loving it). Does this Lightroom 5 tutorial apply in majority to v6?
Yes, most of the info taught is the same. There might be a few little things that changed like the overall look of the import screen but all the major points covered are universal.
Where are the sample photos used in the video? The video says to follow along along and use them. They are not in any of the zip files? Thank you
They should be in the project files folder
I just purchased the Light Room tutorial and don't know where the exercise files are for download. Can you please help and tell me where they would be so I can continue using this course. Thanks
They should be in the folder called project files.
All I got was the movie downloads, no project files... where would they be in the downloads?
I downloaded 5 zip files
zip 1 chapters 1 to 6
zip 2 chapters 7 to 13
zip 3 chapters 14 to 22
zip 4 chapters 23 to 28
zip 5 chapters 29 to 37
All the files are MP4 Video.
I am not seeing a folder called project files.
The class is really good. I would like to try the files used in the video.
Thank you
I'm looking at the packaged files now and there is a Zip 6 file that you should have gotten too. I just sent myself the links and it's in there for me. If you need us to resend you links, please email us through the contact page at the bottom of FS and someone will resend them to you.
hello patrick it is impossible to buy this tutorial? does your server have problems? it gives me ERROR
Merry Christmas and best regards
This is the error: Autorizzazione di 121.99 euro negata (CartaSi ****) - 25/12 ore 16.09 - FSTOPPERSLL - 843-203-39); per chiarimenti chiama il Servizio Clienti
Sorry for responding to this so late, I hope someone through email was able to help you better. I have never seen this error and if there was a major ordering error especially during the holiday season, we would def be on top of it. My guess is it was a random error lasting an hour or so or it's something to do with the connection you have in another country.
How do I qualify for a discount ??
In the promo video above it said that you could down load the tutorial to your iPad. Do you have to buy it on your iPad and store it there, or can you move it back and forth from your laptop? Are instructions included on how to do this?
The files are just normal mpg4 files. In order to put them on your ipad, Apple requires you to sync video files from your desktop to your ipad/iphone through iTunes. It's pretty easy to just drag them over but yes you can keep copies on both devices.
Sweet! Thanks
if I have the most new Lightroom CC, is this tutorial useful anyway? I mean, the menus and options are the same?
Adobe always adds little features here and there but for the most part the Lightroom interface has been 90% the same throughout the last few years. You can def learn how to use CC through this tutorial and a lot of the more advanced techniques Pye leads up to are more about creative editing in general that apply to all version of lightroom.
