Having played with photography for 45 years now, it was time to take this more seriously about 10 years ago. I discovered that when I followed the advice of one of my mentors, Peter Hurley, and intentionally decided to "aim for the heart" when pointing a camera at someone, my life changed.
Having been the photographer for a number of faces that are no longer with us, realizing that an image I capture could be their last, I feel I'm on a mission now; to make an image that is not OF the person, but that IS the person. If that makes sense.
