Fuji XF 56mm f/1.2 vs. Viltrox Pro AF 75mm f/1.2: Which Is Right for You?

Comparing lenses can be a challenging task, especially when both options are excellent. This great video review makes a detailed comparison of the Fuji XF 56mm f/1.2 and the Viltrox Pro AF 75mm f/1.2. Both lenses are impressive, but they cater to slightly different needs and preferences.

Coming to you from Dustin Abbott, this insightful video compares the Fujifilm XF 56mm f/1.2 R WR and Viltrox 75mm f/1.2 AF lenses. The Viltrox, priced at $549, offers a compelling value compared to the Fuji, which costs $899. If budget is a primary concern, the Viltrox might be the better choice right out of the gate.

Both lenses handle chromatic aberration well, but the Viltrox has a slight edge. When it comes to autofocus, the Viltrox again has an advantage with quieter operation and slightly better focus accuracy in portrait settings. Abbott notes that during his testing, the Viltrox consistently nailed focus, while the Fuji missed once. Additionally, the Viltrox's longer focal length allows for greater background blur, enhancing subject isolation.

In terms of build and size, the Fuji lens is more compact and lighter. It weighs 445 grams compared to the Viltrox’s 670 grams, making it a more portable option. The Fuji also has a shorter length, which can be more convenient for on-the-go shooting. Moreover, the Fuji excels in close focus capabilities, offering better magnification. This makes it versatile for capturing fine details.

Abbott points out that the Fuji lens has less vignetting wide open, providing a more even exposure across the frame. It's also slightly sharper in the corners, whereas the Viltrox excels in center and mid-frame sharpness. This makes the Fuji a better choice for those who prioritize edge-to-edge sharpness.
