A Review of the Nikon NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S Lens

Nikon has started to expand their mirrorless lens lineup beyond some of the most common offerings, introducing more specialized professional options, one such example being the NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S. The 800mm f/6.3 is highly portable and priced at a remarkably competitive level. This excellent video review takes a look at the lens and the sort of image quality and performance you can expect from it in practice.

Coming to you from Bobby Tonelli, this excellent video takes a look at the new Nikon NIKKOR Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S lens. At $6,500, the 800mm f/6.3 will certainly put a dent in your wallet, but when you compare it to something like the RF 800mm f/5.6 L IS USM, which sits at $17,000, it looks like a remarkable bargain, especially when you remember that f/6.3 is only a third of a stop of difference from f/5.6, which is practically inconsequential in practice. Just to put that in perspective, you could buy the 800mm f/6.3 and a Nikon Z 9 to pair it with and still have $5,000 to spare. Nikon is certainly putting pressure on other manufacturers with this lens. Check out the video above for Tonelli's full thoughts on it.
