Which of These Remarkable Portrait Lenses Is the Best?

Fujifilm's GFX series of medium format cameras and lenses has brought some incredible image quality and capabilities to photographers at prices that significantly undercut traditional medium format costs. Both the GF 80mm f/1.7 R WR and GF 110mm f/2 R LM WR lenses offer extremely wide apertures for medium format lenses, making them intriguing choices for portrait photographers. So, which is right for you? This great video compares the two and the sort of performance and image quality they offer to help you choose.

Coming to you from Gajan Balan, this awesome video comparison takes a look at the GF 80mm f/1.7 R WR and GF 110mm f/2 R LM WR lenses. With 63mm and 87mm equivalent focal lengths (respectively), both lenses are very suited to portraits and offer some of the company's most advanced designs and features. What makes them especially compelling, though, are their extra-wide maximum apertures, which allow for very shallow depth of field in tandem with the medium format look. And while both are similar in many ways, the experience of shooting with them and the differences in focal length (in particular, the added versatility of the shorter lens) may sway you one way or the other. Check out the video above for Balan's full thoughts.
