I love to shoot luxury property, interiors, & architecture, utilising techniques that combine natural light, artificial flash, & clever post-production to produce richly detailed, natural looking interior shots that delight clients again and again. No muddy HDR, or ugly blown-out windows, no wonky architectural lines, or empty cups of coffee on the kitchen top. This approach works on multi-million pound country houses shot over the course of a few days, right down to one-bed studio apartments which require a few contemporary-looking images for a letting agency.
I shoot residential property, commercial spaces, & public buildings such as hospitals & research facilities. It's an art form - using skills in visual composition, people management, & technical ability to create imagery for clients who often have little idea of what they're looking to achieve.
Running alongside this aspect of my work, is the discipline of public-relations photography. Many a time, it's been noted that I was able to get a shot that the press guys couldn't get due to the ability to get involved with the people on the shoot, inject some warmth & friendliness into the equation, & bring something extra. I've shot on trawlers in the North Sea, out of multi-storey windows, in busy kitchens, hospital wards, & inner-city schools. My mantra of "look for an angle" is repeated again & again throughout my blog posts.
On a personal note, I'm a dedicated husband, & dad of two young'uns, living in Northumberland.
