Carlos Gasparinho
Carlos Gasparinho was born in Lisbon, Portugal, in 1950 and has lived in Portugal, U.S.A., Canada, France, Switzerland, Latin America and the Middle East.
He graduated from Lisbon University in 1970 with a degree in mechanical engineering.
Later studied Design at ESBAL, Lisbon, Sociology at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and Economics (Post-graduation in Development and International Cooperation) at Universidade Técnica de Lisboa. He is presently developing his Doctoral studies in Visual Arts at Universidade de Évora, Portugal.
All his life has been lived around photography. Carlos started using photographic cameras at the age of 6, and received a complete darkroom, as a birthday present, at the age of 10. For him photography has a different meaning. He sees photography as an extension of his body: as another form of perception closely related to the building of memories and to the materialization of dreams.
Carlos has taught photography since the 1970’s and exhibited extensively from 1972.
Very active in the conference circle, with multiple exhibitions in the recent past, as well as several books and publications.
