I've had a camera in my hand since I was a kid. The allure of always trying to improve in the art has kept a fresh interest in it for myself. I love the creative and technical aspects of the field. I shot mostly digital but I still have film cameras around: 35mm to medium format.
I started with Nikon in film. AP photographers convinced me to go Canon. This was just before the Mark III/IV focusing issues. I think both platforms are outstanding. Olympic photographers use both: Canon and Nikon. a clip from the coverage of "Sochi", ". . . Getty photogs travel with a mixture of Canon and Nikon cameras bodies, while the AP is an entirely Canon shop." As we all know both groups produce some great material.
Shooting sporting events are a world among themselves. The art of trying to capture the intensity of the moment strongly drew me in. If anyone wants a challenge try shooting a Division 1 NCAA swimming match. The pace is fast. You have only a moment to capture your shot. Frustrating and gratifying. Definitively addicting.
I keep testing out the waters of different photography styles. As much as photography stays the same - so it changes.
