George P. Post
Photographer, writer, and teacher George Post’s main career specialty has been the photographic documentation of fine arts and handicrafts for his many artisan clients. In recent years an ever-greater percentage of his work has involved jewelry, which requires a great attention to detail along with specialized techniques.
But he has always pursued a personal artistic vision with his own photographic work as well, preferring subject matter that is unusual, off-beat, and colorful, including neon and fireworks. He found a perfect combination of those elements, and much more, when he first attended Burning Man in 1991, the year of the second Black Rock Desert burn. George has returned to the Playa every year since then, documenting the Man, the Temples, the people, the art, and the fire that make Burning Man so very photogenic. His Playa photographs have been widely reproduced in magazines, books, and on the web. In 2012 he self-published a large-format picture book entitled “Dancing with the Playa Messiah, a 21-year Burning Man Photo Album.”
