I've been taking pictures since I was a kid with various cameras (I still have one in the shape of a plane) and even more varying degrees of success. My interest in photography took off when I got a prosumer camera about 10 years a go and I've not looked back since. I carried that camera every where including all round New York when we went one year for my birthday. I took some great shots with it and I was well and truly hooked.

After taking more and more pictures I took the plunge and upgraded to an Olympus DSLR. I was not completely and utterly in my element. I was reading tutorials and taking pictures like no tomorrow.

I had however made a slight mistake. Don't get me wrong, the Olympus was a good camera but I found its limits and the range of lenses and accessories for the four thirds format at the time was limited and wouldn't let me do what I wanted to do. So after much searching and review reading I eventually settled on a Nikon D700 and have been using it happily ever since. My lens of choice for this camera is usually my 20mm wide angle which I keep coming back to again and again despite owning a 50mm and 28-300mm lens. One day I will try using just the 50mm all day to see what I get.

These days I take my camera around the UK (and OK, occasionally to other countries) to wonderful outdoor places such as the Peak District, Wales and any where in between. Being based in the midlands is handy for both of those destinations at least.
