Jacques Vroom
I am way older than any of you.
My first 2 "real" jobs were working for Roger Horchow—3 years at the late, lamented Design Research; followed by 7 years at The Horchow Collection. (You probably have to Google all those names.)
Then, for several decades, I was primarily a producer/director of large-scale, high-end catalog print projects, faintly in the general mold of the early Horchow Collection catalogs. My client list included multi-year work for The Metropolitan Museum, The Art Institute of Chicago, American Eagle Outfitters, Williams-Sonoma, Crabtree & Evelyn, Neiman Marcus; even a few short guest-appearances back at Horchow.
When Stanley Marcus (You youngsters may have to Google that name, too.) was 84, he announced at a Dallas press-conference that he was starting a new career—refining and marketing marketing databases for very-high-end retailers. I was one of two co-founders with him.
I am not quite 74, and, I suppose, I am rushing Stanley's life-schedule-model by moving so early from a history of producing, directing, and editing photography to making pictures myself.
I am not yet able to produce consistent excellent work, but I'm committed to being ready for architectural work and head shots by Elvis's birthday, 2018.
Tutorials here have been a very very helpful springboard! Thank you, Fstoppers.
