I currently work as an architectural photographer for a large corporation and based out of their Los Angeles office. I started years ago with video. When it was time to upgrade, my Dad gave me his old video camera, that literally was attached to a VCR. At that moment I learned one of the most underrated lessons in photography, your gear will be heavy. From there I spent years on film but as a child, never got out of automatic. It wasn't until I got a GoPro later in life that I reignited this flame. I remember the first time I saw a GoPro ad versus the first time I saw my GoPro footage and there was this huge disconnect. Why didn't my video look like the ad? Working for a small insurance agency I eneded up burning time on the internet trying to learn settings, how to edit and what all of those sliders do. I eventually picked up a Nikon D7500, my first digital DSLR and I was hooked but still thought insurance was my best resource for income. It would be 5 years of shooting with my D7500 as a side job before taking the leap of faith and going full time photography. I still struggled to keep my calendar full so I supplemented and improved my skill by working for literally $35 a shoot and 4 shoots a day shooting homes for a real estate company. I started my own company and shot multiple celebrity homes before being recruited by an incredible company where I travel the country shooting architecture, lifestyle and events. I am fortunate but I worked HARD to get to this point.
