Mike Cavanaugh

My photographic journey began many years ago after receiving my father’s 35mm Canon AE1. Many cameras and years of study later, I am still addicted to photography. My artistic goal is to show people things they might have missed. I find inspiration in diverse and unexpected places. Irresistible and offbeat subject matter interrupts every aspect of my life: an awe inspiring Mississippi delta sunrise, the juxtaposition between despair, revelry and unique beauty of the French Quarter, a roadside memorial in the heart of the Mojave Desert, abandoned buildings, furniture and toilets amid the stifling stench and oppressive heat of the Salton Sea, the beauty of the human form, the late afternoon glow in a vineyard that couldn’t be ignored even on my wedding day, and the engulfing fog along the Santa Cruz coast revealing a beached sail boat.

I have over 300 publishing credits encompassing a variety of subject matter: portraiture, commercial product (print and web based), weddings, events, glamour, music, travel and tourism. My personal photography and gallery exhibits include landscapes, travel, nature, architecture, portraiture, still life, fine art and artistic nudes.
