Michael DeMello

Hi there, my name is Michael DeMello. While I have dabbled in art for a couple decades as an emotional expression for myself, I want to share some of this work with you to help inspire and invoke the emotions and feelings that you are experiencing in your life. This journey of opening my photography to you started after a few people I met offered to purchase my work. Thank you for giving me the confidence to start this journey!

Personally I have endured my share of loss and pain over the years. Those experiences have made me more aware and sensitive to things around me. In my work, I attempt to capture that moment – the visual beauty of subject but also the inner emotions that it ignites. Many subjects I encounter will spark an emotion that only a photograph can explain. Just like a song. Lyrics can move you, but it’s the music and visuals accompanying the lyrics that will tell the whole story.

I was born and raised in Hawaii and now find myself living in the grey and rainy Pacific-Northwest. Growing up, my norm was the ocean, surf, nature, sunsets, and an amazing family that I lost at a young age. Because of that, the majority of my work will have something to do with those matters which evoke various emotions which then changes how I frame and shoot the subject in front of me. The subject itself may not be clear at first, but the emotional connection, colors, and geometry empower my art.
