About Nathan

I started doing macro photography in 2016 for promotional work, and instantly caught the photography bug.

In 2017, I started to become more serious about my work and moved into portraits. I focused on learning the basics, including lighting and retouching. I’ve had great opportunities in this genre, but felt something was missing.

Cue my urge to do landscapes. I was born and raised in South Dakota, and every time I go back there I wish I had my camera with me. So I started taking it, and it ultimately scratched that pesky itch. I am drawn to minimalism, black and white, and long exposure work. Sometimes a wide shot of an iconic place just doesn’t tell the story in the same way an intimate landscape shot does.

As of now, I am using a Nikon D810 with a wide array of lenses, and a few Lee filters. I hope to get out there and create art that is relatable to people, for their moods and emotions to resonate with my own.
