I bought a Nikon D300 in the Army thinking I would photograph my combat tour, I studied on my free time how to take better photos and shot everything I could. I was honorably discharged before I saw combat so with my future at the mercy of God's plan I went home. I found a sign for a local rodeo and asked if I could photograph the event, I was welcomed to photograph all rodeo events. I began learning how to photograph horses, starting with the spray and pray approach and then being more specific about my timing. I loved the freedom of being my own boss, photography wasn't a job it was therapy, it allowed me to control my PTSD and focus on what others needed from me, Good clean photos. I struggled to gain support from family but my stubbornness kept me from giving up. I was fortunate enough to have work that was good enough to gain admiration for a model with a Coors Light ad. They loved my shot so much that they used it for their Coors Light and Ice House ads! The swimsuit company also chose the photo for their website and it was at that moment that my hard work paid off. I began to fine tune my photography and began more in depth retouching, lighting was easy to learn thanks to Peter Hurley's DVD's on headshots. I hope one day to make a name for myself as a photographer and to travel the world doing what I love.
