Sarah Allegra
I am a fine art photographer and self-portrait artist. I specialize in uncommon, conceptual imagery. Each image is a piece of visual poetry, and an entire world unto itself.
Though I have myalgic encephalomyelitis, I do not let that hinder my photography. Unlike many other high-concept photographers, who use entire teams to create their work, I do everything myself. And I do it on a shoestring budget. From scouting locations to hand-making costumes and props; from shooting to editing and post-production; it is important to me to be involved in every part of the photographic process. Though the work is physically draining for me, the personal nature of my work demands my attention at every level.
I see the world in a mythic, symbolic way. Things are rarely what, or all, they appear to be.
There are hidden meanings in every shadow.
My photos offer the viewer a portal to this other world; an ethereal, dream-filled realm where the impossible becomes possible.
