Theodore Schnell

I got interested in nature photography at about age 13, starting with my Dad's old Argus C3. By 18, I had my first professional camera -- a Canon F1, and a few years later, invested in a Canon A1.

I graduated college with a BA in journalism and an art minor with an emphasis in photography. I went to work as a reporter/photographer at a daily newspaper in Wyoming in 1983, eventually becoming an editor at another paper. I moved back to my hometown in 1994 where I remain today, and resumed my photography in 2012 after one layoff. A second layoff in 2014 ended my career, so returned to nature photography, which had remained my passion.

In the past several years, I also have ventured into macrophotography, which I consider an extension of my interest in God's creation.
