Dave Harrell

I am the founder and editor of The Crooked Porch magazine. Why did I start an online magazine? Because after a decade as a museum historian, I nurtured a professional passion for discovering, and more importantly sharing, fascinating and inspiring stories.

I chose Northern Michigan over my career in order to raise my family in Harbor Springs. If you ask my son or daughter, I am the father of Northern Michigan's two most intelligent, good-looking, athletic and funny children. If you ask my wife, I need to get off the computer and help with the dishes.

I struggle to find time to run. I love local beers, whiskeys, ciders and wines - so much so that I often have miserable mornings. I enjoy folk rock, especially local bands. I coach youth sports. I am one of those fools that says every August, "This is the year the Lions will make some noise." My favorite movies are Gone With the Wind, North by Northwest and Eurotrip.
