Paul Connolly

Hi I am Paul Connolly a photographer/digital artist from Dromiskin, who has lived in County Louth all my life until recently when my partner and I moved to the beautiful County Monaghan, which has been a wonderful experience to date.
As an artist I am interested in capturing moments and making them my own. I photograph mainly local landmarks, seascapes, streetscapes and landscapes as I am drawn to their colour, dynamics and form. I also dabble in portraiture and astrophotography as I enjoy utilising all photography has to offer.

Using various software packages including Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop and mostly Coral painter I create artworks which are fresh, inventive, distinctive and original. Streetscapes that locals have walked on and lived near for many years are given a new lease of life, a beauty to be appreciated again instead of being taken for granted as so many of us do.
Because of my work, I have experienced some truly wonderful moments; the smell of a tiny flower (the pretty ones that appear on many’s a persons pathway but most just walk by or trample over); explored the architecture of old abandoned buildings, mostly likely not visited for several years; voluntarily stood in rivers and lakes fully clothed with shoes on, to capture that perfect moment on film and witnessed some of the most beautiful sunsets/sunrises Ireland has to offer. I live to discover, appreciate and capture the beauty that surrounds us every single day.
