James Johnson
James Johnson is a fashion and portrait photographer from Camden, New Jersey and based in Philadelphia, Pa. He started shooting around the summer of 2008 after being introduced to another photographer through mutual friends. "I was really inspired to just shoot. I first started shooting friends, animals, buildings, anything just to get the feel of what I actually wanted to shoot." He won numerous online contests and shortly after models reached out to shoot. He would take off of work often to shoot, and never forgot the day his manager asked "If your photography is so good, why are you working here?" That motivated him to leave the job and start building his portfolio.
By February 2009, he had already shot his first fashion show through an agency with 13 upcoming magazines publishing 31 photos of his. "I'll never forget the day Nick Saglimbeni reached out to me on social media. He said "Your work is nice, If you focus on your lighting I can see you having a great career." Already following his work, he started to do just that. Everything he studied was about lighting and how to get it to look certain ways. "Nick was very influential to the photographer I am today, He literally would take the time to critique anything I've sent him before I sent it to the client. He's someone that I'm blessed to have as a friend." Photographers always inspired him like Joey L, Lindsay Adler, Patrick Demarchelier, Shamayim, Howard Huang, and the list goes on.
