I aim for sense of honesty in my work that is both candid and realistic. I don't necessarily like to idealise things, but rather capture what I see through my mind's eye. Lighting, composition, timing and content are just some of the many factors that constantly race through my head when trying to obtain a certain feel. Using film is one of the ways I manage to see extraordinary in the ordinary, but it mainly comes from looking - simply observing, contemplating what could potentially make a great photograph. I don't have any photography mentors, so to speak, because most of my inspiration comes from my environment - the places I go, the people I meet and the bands I see. As an artist, I feel I would have no purpose if I did not not have this sense of being in tune with my surroundings.
