Don Crossland
Having originally trained as a graphic designer, I’ve worked for over 14 years as designer and Art Director for agencies, in-house corporate marketing departments and several influential design-centric publications in Phoenix, Los Angeles and New York.
In 2004, I started shooting editorial fashion and architecture for several regional and national magazines. After 5 years, photography took a back seat as many marketing consulting opportunities surfaced. After a two-year hiatus from photography, I was itching to get back behind the camera and decided to refocus my career, specializing in food and food culture photography. This combined my two biggest passions, beautiful images and all things culinary.
My images can be described as modern rustic, combining the clean, simple aesthetic of modern design with the rich textured, ‘lived in’ feel of a rustic environment.
When I am not behind the camera, I write a food and food photography blog, Shoot What You Eat, for which I develop, cook, style and shoot recipes, share culinary travels and other food related subjects. My first cookbook, Fresh Food, Fresh Ingredients is currently available in the iTunes Bookstore.
