Ross Duncan

I grew up in a small country town where not much happened.
Then I started work at the local newspaper as their full time press photographer and things got more interesting.
I once worked as a delivery boy and a barman, but not at the same time.
Like many of my compatriots I'm an avid traveler, and now constantly on the move and trying to observe and make some sense of the world around me.
I try to interpret this world with a sense of humor and my current work focuses on urban landscapes and the built human environment.
My work experience includes full time press photographer and long stints as a photographic editor in major Australian media companies.
I once crashed a racing car and I've photographed Paul McCartney and the Pope, but not together.
Now retired and back behind the camera, my enthusiasm for the still image is rekindled, I find inspiration more in the man-made urban environment than the natural landscape.
I find writing artist statements to be excruciating and secretly think most are probably nonsense.
