Almost 30 years ago I discovered a show called Wild America. I watched every episode on a 12-in B&W TV in my bedroom. I was a poor kid in a poor neighborhood in New Orleans, and I vowed one day I would take pictures of wild animals and wild places. It took me twenty-two years to make that happen, but when I bought my first DLSR in 2010, I finally felt like I had reached a significant milestone on the way to that goal. I still have a long way to go but I'm chasing my dream, and that is something not everyone can say.
