I did some "professional" photography. I photographed products for a small business's starting back in the 1970s. Not high quality stuff but perfect for their advertising purposes.
My main interest is in travel and nature photography. My goal is to get great images out of compact non- "professional gear."
My point of view is: Except when photography is being used to document or replicate the scene as my eyes viewed it, photography is an art form. Nothing wrong with using any technique or any software to get your results. Personally I want the photo to look fantastic but also appear very realistic and not "overdone". I am not critical of other points of view but I feel comfortable liking what I like. If I don't enjoy what you think is beautiful, that isn't an insult any more than someone loving fried fish and detesting sushi.
