My name is JC Carty

As an avid film fan, I enjoy going to the cinema (often on my own) and have a particular affinity to superhero and animated movies. I listen to film-related podcasts daily as I enjoy being part of communities that encourage the love of film. I also collect film memorabilia, having built an impressive collection of movie weapons.

Although I work fulltime as a teacher ( I work with children with mental and behavioural difficulties) I am a passionate photographer with a penchant for low-key light, strong shadows and interesting personal stories. I thrive on creative photography projects - bodies of work that involve collaborating with like-minded people, where the end goal is print. I have 3 at the moment in various stages of production.

As someone who enjoys taking conceptual portraits, I like to challenge myself to create photographs that push me out of my comfort zone and work by the motto, ‘never shoot the same person in the same way twice’.
