Matthew Garsteck

I was born and raised it Michigan. I left home and joined the military right after I graduated High School. I discovered my love for photography while I lived in Charleston SC. Its still my favorite place on Earth. However, after my 6-year enlistment was up I could not find a job anywhere. I lived without power and water for 3-months in my house that was 6-months behind on the mortgage. So, I bought a one-way ticket to California and left everything behind in pursuits of making it as a photographer.

I worked a lot with inner city outreaches like the LA Dream Center, which is where I wound up staying. For a year I was the photographer and graphics department for Dream Records. LA really forced me to step up my game.

Now Im back at it after taking a break to attend engineering school. Photography is my passion and what I love to do. I bring the study skills I learned in engineering schoo, and Im applying it to photography. My goal is to master the art
