About Spencer

I am an Art Historian I have fought to promote the unknown Artists especially in the print medium. This includes photography. I find that there are two very different worlds. That of analog and Digital print photography and that of the digital online world. My philosophy is simple as I studied printmaking as an etcher/lithographer and learned commercial printing on large presses. I shot film as an amateur using a Canon AE-1 I am still interested in shooting film as well as shooting digital. I travel with a Leica D-Lux 8 as I need a camera I can fit in my pocket. I have a few 35 film bodies a Nikon F and F-2 and a Canon F-1 I prefer mechanical Bodies and I prefer changing lenses to fit the situation. As far as Digital goes I find that learning technology is a massive task. I bought the Leica D-Lux 8 as it is basically a point and shoot that I can use manually or let the camera do the thinking. It is the image that has always interested me and the process of getting there. It does not matter what I use as long as I can frame the image that visually interests me. There is a divide between old school photography and digital photography. There is also a new group who use analog photography and enhance or edit using a digital process by scanning negatives. I have an interest in the printing process both analog as well as digital.
