Brian Murphy

I was born into a Kodak family. Both of my parents worked for Kodak for decades before I was even born, so I had a camera in my hand from the day i was born and everyone I knew was either a photographer or in the business, so my love for shooting started early for me.

I shoot a wide variety of subjects and genres, and while I love nothing more then grabbing my gear and going out into the city at 2am while everyone else sleeps, my favorite thing is to use my photos to share my love of life. Every day on this earth is amazing to me, and people pass by things that I find spectacular and beautiful every day without a second glance. I use my camera to show them the world that I see and try and show that there is beauty in a wedding, but there is also beauty in the exquisite pain of loss and everything in-between.

One of the things I have become known for locally is my original work digitally painting photos. I love the combination of the precision and detail of the photograph, and how I can use the brush to highlight or exaggerate the emotion I am trying to convey. I spent over a year learning the software and perfecting my technique and each print takes 1-2 months or longer to complete because I often redo the image again and again until it is just the way I want it.

I am also a staunch defender of Bokeh photography as an art form in and of itself and that Bokeh is far more then just a bunch of blurry lights or out of focus subjects that anyone can do.
