Manfred Mueller
I'm a long-time amateur photographer who started out in the "wet" colour and B&W darkroom when I was still in my teens. I've been into digital photography longer than most - I started out with a Logitech Fotoman in 1993. Image software was so limited back then that I had to write my own to do some very simple, basic edits.
I went through many different digital cameras in the interim; starting with a Canon Powershot S40 in 2004. I picked up my first DSLR (a Nikon D90 in 2010) and have been shooting the D800 since it came out. I also travel with the Panasonic GX7, when size and weight are an issue. I've been using Photoshop since CS first came out (started in 2003).
I have a highly technical background; I have a degree in mechanical engineering and recently retired after working for decades as an engineering manager, in charge of design teams. As a photographer, I am largely self-taught, but have upgraded my skills over the past few years by taking some advanced photography courses at the local community college, have attended workshops and have use tutorials from sources like Fstoppers to continue to improve my photography skills.
I am very much a travel photographer and tend to have a photo-journalistic style to my work. My travel takes me all over the world; to both developed countries and to developing countries. I do hone my skills at home when I am not on the road and do many different types of photography, including a fair bit of studio work.
