David Spencer
I started my photo hobby in 6th grade using a Kodak 120 camera with ONE control, the shutter. In the 70s, 80s and 90s, I enjoyed using Minolta and later Nikon film SLR gear. Making the leap to digital photography occurred in 2004 when I bought a Canon 20D and still use Canon today. The improvements in camera features, sensors and lens design have opened up new photographic opportunities that keep me interested in the hobby.
Railroads operating in scenic locations were my favorite subjects as a budding young photo guy. Green pine trees and red diesels make a great scene so I spent most of my time with the Canadian Pacific Railway in British Columbia. We met the right folks and had amazing access to CPR trains and locations. The arrival of middle age limits my railroad quest and I now spend more time with travel, landscape, wildlife and astro photography.
