Howdy, and welcome to the Wednesday Rundown. For those who may be new to the site, my name is Jerrit, and I help Lee and Patrick go through all of the videos sent in to us by you, the readers. Not every video can make the front of FS but many videos do have a lot to offer. Instead of throwing all of these extra videos out, I compile my favorites (which are usually the most informative) each Wednesday so you can learn from them as well. If you have a video that you think we might like to post, please click on "submit content" above.
CD Art Shoot:
Creating concepts for your shoots can sometimes be more important than your lighting scheme.
Yoga wear Shoot:
I really like the simplicity of this shoot, and how well it pairs with the clothing. Very simply and clean beauty in these shots.

Waking up in Vegas:
A shoot very similar to a Fstoppers original, well it is close. However this one looks to be down with the Miss America models.
Mirror effect Video Trick:
Sometimes I see a video that is so simple I wish I had done it first and produced it. Not much behind this one but the video is amazing to watch.

Lunar Eclipse:
If you are anywhere close to being a space nerd, or you are online at all you knew a couple nights ago we had a lunar eclipse. I slept through it knowing someone out there would provide me with a video that would do much better then my eyes or the 200mm of glass I have. Check out what a fstoppers fan sent in to us.

i love the waking up in vegas! i liked the Fstoppers originals though im afraid.- it was more informative. on what happened and what was expected and what you got.
on a positive note to that video: they were really nice bra's
not even a spill kill on the lights? are you mad? i'd like to see the images he ended up with if anybody could dig them out.
Thanks for the lunar eclipse vid. We didn't get to see it this week thanks to cloud cover.
@ Jerrit, You think the Five Light "Yoga wear Shoot" is simple? Looks like an advanced set-up to me.
BTW did you notice that the models are on a platform? No matter what they tell you in amateur portrait 101, Fashion is often shot looking up at the model.
The problem with many so-called-BTS videos is that they are selling-tools for the clothing and show little of the photography - so you have to stop-frame the video to really see what is going on with the lighting, etc. Spend a few minuets stop-framing the video and you can learn a lot.
@Martin, no we were not upset about seeing this. There are no new ideas under the sun right? haha It is good.
@CD, good call. Yes there are some crazy light and a unique angle with the platform. Just cool to see the pictures reflect an elegant simplicity as the clothes do for the end result.
CD Art shoot: It shows nicely how to shoot a simple concept, and just build upon it on the fly. Something I do all the time.
Yoga shoot: I like the BTS, as mentioned already. I like that the model was shot like one would a product, on a raised reflective surface. Having it raised, makes it easier for the photographer to shoot from more angles if needed, also, when shooting at eye level, one doesn't need to get on the ground or bend over for the entire shoot. If I had the space and more lights, I'd shoot like this all the time. Shooting with as many or more lights, depending on how I wanted to shape the light.
Waking up in Vegas: The video looks great. I would assume since the video was lit mainly from the modeling light on the strobe, and it looked well lit, that the images didn't look too much different (though I know the lamp is much dimmer than the flash). Great choice in models, they were dressed and done up nicely for this.
Mirror Effect: LOVE IT. So simple and so nice to watch. I could probably watch hours of that if I wanted something to relax to. I don't get high, but I'm sure there's a huge market there for this type of video, lol.
Lunar Elipse: Cool seeing the color of the moon in the video, and it was nice in general. Though, it's not my cup of tea...
The results of the Vegas shoot are the models profile pics here http://www.missuniverse.com/missusa/members/contestants, shame they didn't use the backgrounds more I think but I have to get out of England and get to Vegas, and was it me or is fadil a little "hands on" with his work? :P
Hi Peter, thanks for featuring our video in your blog post! We're glad you enjoyed it and look forward to reading through more of your posts.
