Enhancing your Photos with Gradients in Photoshop

When it comes to photography, there are several different ways to add your own style to your work. One way is within your post-processing, and there are several ways to enhance your photos. Gradients can be applied in many different ways, so how would you use gradients to enhance your photo?

For this week’s Two-Minute Tuesday with Peter McKinnon, he is starting a new three-part series showing different ways how he enhances his photos in post. Yep, you guessed it, the first part is how he applies gradients to his photos to enhance it with color and give it a pop. Now, this isn’t the only way to use gradients or to give your photos some color, but it is an easy and effective way.

You can use adjustment layers the same way Peter used gradient layers, or you can play with different blending modes to achieve different effects. If you wish you control the spill of the color a bit more, simply apply a layer mask and brush away or brush in where you want to add the color. Guess now we have to wait till next week to see what’s the next method that Peter uses to enhance his photos. How do you use gradients in your photos? Post your answers in the comments below.
