AI Art: Are You a Fake If You Use It?

Are you curious about creating AI art? Is it okay to sell your work? I find it very fascinating, and since I’m not a Photoshop artist, I think I might try it out.

There’s an artist out there that is selling AI art and making some good money at it. His name is Jonas Peterson, and after watching this video, I looked into his website and Instagram, and I think the images are great. But, is it fair for him to be selling the work?

The big AI site right now is Midjourney. I have tried using the free trial and was told they are at capacity, and I would need to pay for a monthly subscription. When I have the time to play around with it, I will do so. The AI creative process can be manipulated with camera and lens choice, as well as lighting and composition, so there is some direction involved. But ultimately, you were not the artist. You didn’t actually draw the subject.

This is the new world of AI that we live in, and this is just the beginning. So, to be honest, I personally think it's fine to create AI art and sell it if there’s a market for it. Why not? Our business is hard enough, so if there’s a new way to make money, go for it!

Somewhere not that long ago, I wrote let's wait for others to learn, let's wait for their videos, I know they can't resist. My post was removed. These guys are telling me I was right to wait and then I don't have to waist much time watching videos to learn AI the day I decide to. That's it.

Opinions on this are hardening. Mine: everything produced by "generative AI" is a mashup of the work of humans. How could it be otherwise, when that's the only input to the software?

Yes. It's like sub-contraticng your "creativity" and then claiming originality and ownership.

Well said!

If you need to ask the question I suspect you already know the answer.
