Three Mistakes You Might Not Realize You're Making as a Photographer

This video isn't about mistakes like going too heavy on the saturation slider (but seriously, tone it down there). Rather, it talks about three larger mistakes that can seriously impact both your work and your career.

Coming to you from Chelsea Nicole Photography, this great video talks about three broad mistakes that photographers often fall into making. Though the video is geared toward wedding photographers, it applies to almost any genre. The tricky thing about these sorts of mistakes is that they tend to sneak up on you, and they can hold you back quite a bit before you realize what's going on. In particular, as the video mentions, being reactive instead of proactive is dangerous in photography (or any creative field). Especially nowadays, when the market is flooded with photographers and standards are higher than ever, waiting for the right client or shoot to come your way rarely works out. This is why we so often harp on the importance of personal shoots, as these are your chance to put together images with no constraints imposed by a client, allowing you to really show off your creative and technical prowess, and it's these shoots that often attract the paying customers you're looking for. Check out the video above for more on the subject.

Totally agree with all Chelsea is saying here.Great advice.I have something along these lines on my youtube channel. I am not as dynamic as Chelsea though.I was about to post a link to similar stuff on my youtube channel but when I put the link in it came up with my intro dominating the page. I do not wish to distract from Chelsea's post. I am just an old timer with many fond memories of my wedding photography career.Keep up the good work Chelsea.
