And The Winner Of The Fstoppers Gulf Photo Plus Contest Is...

Last night we chose one random commenter from Facebook and one from Fstoppers and we put both names in a hat. We drew one name out to determine the winner, and the winner is...

Congratulations Jayce Giddens! Jayce is both a professional photographer and a full-time high school photography teacher in Corvallis, OR. We will be meeting Jayce in-person in Dubai on February 10-17 for Photo Week at Gulf Photo Plus, and if you're attending this year as well, we look forward to seeing you there, too.

This will be our second time attending GPP, and below you can check out an inspirational video we produced during our first trip that shows just how much there is to learn from the instructors.

This would be a dream come true! I really want to spend this next year learning more to better my art. What a great opportunity this would be!

Would love the opportunity to meet Lee and Patrick and to attend one of the best photography conferences in the world

After taking both of Eli's fstoppers course I would love to meet him and learn even more at GPP

It would be amazing to see all my idols in one place! Like the biggest dream ever but not a dream ^_^

can writers win!? send me!!

I've been yearning to go back to Dubai since deploying to United Arab Emirates with the US Air Force. The city was so inspirational and I didn't get the time to explore the city.

What a great opportunity to attend some of the best training from the best instructors - and it's in Dubai! Let's go!

A chance to fly half way around the globe to meet and learn from some of the most creative, experienced, and talented photographers in the world: A photographer's dream. Could be the kick in the pants I need to jumpstart my path into commercial photography.

That is a cool opportunity. I happened to visit one of their "Pop-Up's".
I feel that I never learned so much in a short period (two days).

Would love go to the Photo Week

I believe the question is who doesn't want to go to GPP because I'll gladly take their place!

Magic!

I like this idea lets see if i get lucky ...

I would love to get the chance to learn from other photographers. Especially in a photographically amazing place as Dubai.. I've never given myself the experience of following a workshop from a top Photographer.. If i'd get this chance i would want to take The Art of Editorial Portraiture workshop by Victoria Will.

How much better can it get, Attending a Dream opportunity, in a Dream City following your Dream in Photography!

I'd go simply to watch Victoria Will photograph a phone book printed in 1975... Of course, I'm still carrying a little grudge towards Dubai since my favorite model moved there. :( But, I'm willing to let bygones be bygones if I could shoot her in her new home, absolutely. I'd also love to see what Zack Arias could do in the streets of Dubai; if he even comes close to the brilliant street work he does in NY, it'd be so worth it. Finally and most importantly, I'd love to go to be able to share what I learned and use the experience to motivate other photographers to pursue their own photography journey.

Sign me up! For free, that is.

Choose me...please.

I just want to meet Patrick and his lunar boots! 😄

He actually wore them today

This man deserves a statue.

It would be great to attend GPP! :-)

What a fantastic opportunity that would be. Many thanks for just putting this out there.

Dubai is almost LITERALLY the exact opposite side of the earth from where I'm sitting. Why not see how the other half lives?

I have been inspired by Victoria Will ever since I first came across her Sundance portraits (those tintype photos!) and it would be thrilling to have the chance to learn directly from her. All of my post-processing is self-taught, and I would also love the idea of refining my Lightroom and Photoshop skills with some expert help. Being surrounded so many talented people in the business would be such a creative and inspirational jolt, and it would be a great step in my photography career. This would be an absolute dream trip.

Yes! I went to Dubai a few years ago when I was just getting started with photography. I've been wanting to go back ever since to get the images I couldn't get then.

GPP should be amazing. Just Heisler is probably worth the trip! I would really appreciate the opportunity!

Reason 1: That's a terrific line-up of instructors
Reason 2: Making out of the Dubai airport

Would be dream for me

Dubai ok. GPP ok. But to meet the amazing Lee! Now that is the real deal! :-D What, are you kidding? I'd love to go!

automatic winner

Suh-weet, sounds like a great trip. Will this be the most commented post ever?

Pick me! pick me!

I've been watching GPP for the last 3 years, I would love to for once be there too!

I'm down with GPP, yeah, you know me!

Beautiful city to photograph; great workshops; who wouldn't want to go? Pick me!

All I can say is that winning this would be the trip of a lifetime and the most amazing thing that could ever happen. I've always wanted to go to something like photo plus and have been wanting to go to Dubai, so this would be a dream come true.

I'm nearly 10 years into my photography career and have been dying to reinvent myself. What better way to start than at GPP?!

I'm at such a crossroads in my photography career. I'd love to attend GPP to further inspire my creative eye and bring clarity to my goals.

Winning a chance to go to GPP could mean the difference between studying to become a nurse practitioner or becoming a full-time photographer for me. I have a lag-time of 8 months before I go back to school for nursing that I have decided to dedicate to my photography to see how much I can improve. Although I know that I could be happy either way part of me wants to know how far I can take my photography given I put in the hours and immerse myself completely in it. It is kind of like what Peter was talking about with had he known how far he would have come looking back, he would have progressed that much faster because he didn't doubt himself. The opportunity to study off of the established photographers at GPP (I include you and Patrick in there, Lee) would be the first test I need in order to prove to myself I could make it as a photographer.

Looks like a dream city to learn to improve my weakest skills with some masters.

I have never attended a workshop and this would be the perfect opportunity to do so and receive some professional guidance to help me evolve within photography.
I would love to visit Dubai once again - last time it was pure work related to the IT industry, so it would be awesome to see this beautiful city without having to work :-)

Best of luck to everyone!

Would not miss an opportunity like this!

Would love to learn more in such an amazing place!

I would love to meet some of photographers who inspired me to make this my career, and visit a city I may never have a chance to experience otherwise.

Never attend any workshop before, would be great to see what this is all about.

WOW this sounds awesome :) you guys rock. As someone who lives in Australia this would be an awesome experience to learn from the best and take my skills to the next level

This would be a dream week.

Winning a trip to Dubai to attend Gulf Photo Plus would be an incredible opportunity to not just experience an incredible country and culture, but also meet with the professionals in my chosen craft of photography/video. I would me more than willing to help with coverage of the show or any other jobs where help would be needed. If you're looking to reward a young ambitious creative with a trip to Gulf Photo Plus, than I'm the man that fits the bill.

why would i like to go to gppp? two words! zack arias
