The Best Photography Related Cyber Monday Sales: UPDATED

The best shopping day of the year is upon us! Unlike the highly stigmatized Black Friday day of chaos, Cyber Monday allows us all to casually browse the best sales from the comfort of our homes. In this post I have gathered some of the best and most useful sales for photographers and videographers as well as some non photography tools that can be a lifesaver. Check back into this post throughout the day (or follow us on Twitter) as the Fstoppers staff will be updating it often.

Feel free to share your own best deals of Cyber Monday below in the comments and I will try to include them in this post so everyone can take advantage of it. Black Friday and Cyber Monday is always a crazy time for sales so if there is something I have missed please let me know.

Cameras (DSLR and Mirrorless)

If you are looking to upgrade your current DSLR, buy a second body for backup, or simply find an entry level DSLR as a first camera gift, Canon has a bunch of great deals for Cyber Monday. Below are a few of the most standout deals.

Canon EOS Rebel T5 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens - $399

Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera - $899

Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 STM Lens - $999

Canon EOS 70D DSLR Camera with 18-135mm and 70-300mm Lenses Kit - $1598.00

Canon EOS 7D Mark II DSLR Camera - $1299.00

Canon EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens & PIXMA PRO-100 Printer Kit - $749.00

Canon EOS 5D Mark III - $1899

Sony has been breaking waves and causing a stir the last few years with their newest crop of Mirrorless Cameras like the A7RII and A7sII.  Today there aren't as many deals on Sony cameras but you can get a pretty good deal on the older A7 mirrorless camera as well as the Alpha a6000 mirrorless kit.

Sony Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera w/ 55-210mm Lens & Accessories kit - $699

Sony Alpha a7 Mirrorless Digital Camera -$998

Nikon has some awesome deals on their entry level D3300 and D3200 cameras. While these two cameras probably won't be that exciting for the seasoned professional photographer, they are definitely great gift ideas for someone just getting into photography. It's pretty amazing that you can get an incredible camera capable of taking professional photos for less than $400. It wasn't too long ago that a compriable camera was at least $600 and it would no doubt offer less features and lower quality.

Nikon D3300 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens - $396.95

Nikon D3200 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm and 55-200mm VR Lenses Kit - $396.95

If you are looking for a more professional solution, you can pick up our favorite Nikon DSLR ever, the D750 for less than $1900. This camera is the leader for ISO and video quality in the entire Nikon DSLR line (yep, gives the D4s a run for its money) and is an absolute dream to work with.  We love this camera so much that we sold off all our other cameras and bought 6 of these for our studio. If you don't mind forgoing the US warranty, you can save even more on the D750 by picking up a gray market version on ebay (we bought our 6 from GetItDigital and saved thousands).

Nikon D750 DSLR Camera - $1896.95

Nikon D750 DSLR Camera (gray market) - $1518.00

Nikon D810 DSLR Camera - $2796.95

If you are looking to add a few specialty lenses to your basic camera kit, Nikon has a great package deal on their 85mm 3.5 lens as well as the popular 35mm 1.8 lens.  The 85mm lens will work well for both portraits and macro while the 35mm lens is excellent for low light photography, street photography, and wider angle portraits that still have that shallow depth of field look to them. Keep in my these two lenses are DX and will not be the best choice if you have a more professional full frame camera.

Nikon Macro & Portrait 85mm f/3.5 and 35mm f/1.8 Two Lens Kit  - $496.95

Canon users can instantly save $70 on the super popular 85mm 1.8 lens.  This lens which is normally over $400 is only $349 today and it is perhaps one of the most affordable fast aperture portrait lenses in the entire Canon lens line. The 85mm will allow you to get that super shallow depth of field look indoors and outdoors as well as compress the background which is perfect for headshots and portraits.

Our main work horse of a lens, the Tamron 24-70 2.8, currently has a $200 instant rebate. While this sale is more a holiday sale than specifically a Cyber Monday Sale, it was simply too good not to mention it here. We have 3 of these lenses in our studio and actually prefer it over our Nikkor 24-70 2.8 lenses because it has Vibration Compensation which is great for video. Recently Nikon did announce their 24-70 2.8 VR lens but at $2400 and with less sharpness than their first version I lens, I think the Tamron will remain our go to lens for quite a while.

Keep in mind, if you order this lens, you will need to order the version specific to your brand (Nikon, Canon, Sony, etc).

Sigma has really become a game changer in the super high quality prime world with the release of their 20mm, 35mm, and 50mm lenses. Today only you can get an instant $100 savings on their 35mm 1.4 DG HSM Art Lens. These lenses are great for low light, creating super blurry backgrounds, and fast paced event and street photography. As always with third party lenses, make sure you pick the correct lens mount that will work with your camera brand.

Tutorials and Education

Our friends over at have some awesome deals on their photography tutorials. Their discount codes found here give larger and larger discounts as you put more and more items in your cart with some of them being as high as 60% off. These tutorials cover everything from fashion and natural light to product photography, compositing, and food photography.

Each year we do a Cyber Monday sale as well and this year is no different. This year's discounts range from $30 - $100 off and are featured on a range of tutorials from Peter Hurley, Mike Kelley, Dylan Patrick, and Pye Jirsa. This also marks the first discount on Elia Locardi's Photographing the World tutorial. To see which discounts each photographer is giving out on their tutorial, head over to the full Fstoppers Cyber Monday Tutorial Sale page.

CreativeLIVE is perhaps the largest resource of educational content for photographers on the web. Unlike most of the other tutorials listed here, CreativeLIVE presents their content in a stripped down, less edited, more open dialog style that can make learning easy and casual. Today you can get 30% off their entire catalog which of course covers every type of photography genre imaginable. CreativeLIVE is also great for topics unrelated to photography like heath, cooking, and music.

Our good friends over at SLR Lounge are doing a massive 30% sale on every one of their tutorials with the code "blackfriday30".  SLR Lounge's tutorials are primarily lead by Pye Jirsa who is not only an amazing photographer but also one of the best photography instructors in the business. Some of our favorite tutorials from SLR Lounge are their HDR Photography Workshop, Natural Light Couples Workshop, and their Lightroom Preset and Lightroom Workflow tutorials. You can check out SLR Lounge's tutorials both in the Fstoppers Store and on the SLR Lounge Store.

GoPro has become the standard for high definition action ware cameras and today they have some of the lowest prices yet on their three most common models. Their flagship GoPro Hero 4 Black is on sale for $380 and our favorite model, the GoPro Hero4 Silver (which has the touchable LCD) is only $319! If you wind up getting one of these super versatile cameras, don't forget to pick up a few microSD cards for them since they do not ship with memory.

The DSLR videography accessory company Zacuto is offering 25% on their entire website with the code "CYBER25".  This sale is only 5 hours long and ends at 5pm Eastern Time so make sure you act quick. Zacuto products can be pretty expensive so an extra 25% savings is HUGE.

DJI Drones

DJI has become the biggest innovator and leader within the aerial video drone business. Their products are some of the most fun photography "toys" you can buy and even if you aren't into aerial photography or videography I can guarantee you will find a way to incorporate into your business (watch our fun video A Drone in Iceland to see what these things can do).

Today you can save $100 off both the DJI Phantom 3 Standard which shoots 2.7K video and also the DJI Phantom 3 Professional which films in stunning 4k quality. Another great deal you should consider is the older DJI Phantom 2 drone which are a little behind in the technology but perhaps the best deal yet for anyone looking to get into aerial photography/video. This is actually the same drone we used to film all of Elia Locardi's Photographing the World and at $484 it is the most affordable DJI Phantom 2 available (be aware, this drone does not come with a gimbal or camera).

Synology NAS Storage

Synology NAS storage is one of our favorite hard drive solutions. Not only does it offer redundant backup of all of your files, it also lets you remotely access your files from any computer on your network or even through the cloud. While none of the Synology boxes are directly on sale today, many of them are at the lowest price they have ever been which makes them a great deal of the photographer looking to get rid of all their external hard drives and consolidate everything into one safe server.

Our favorite units are the Synology DS214play  which holds 2 hard drives up to 6TB each and the more robust Synology DS1815+ which holds up to 8 hard drives for a total of 48TB of backed up storage. These NAS boxes do not come with hard drives but there is a good deal on 6TB Western Digital Red hard drives which we use for our two Synology boxes.

16GB Professional UHS-I SD Memory Card (2 pack)

Lexar is probably the second largest memory card supplier right behind Sandisk. Today only they have a great deal on 2 16GB SD cards for $18.39 which is perhaps one of the best deals in the entire Lexar lineup. These are great memory cards for lower megapixel cameras, but if you are looking to shoot all day without removing any cards or misplacing multiple cards, I'd suggest buying cards that are 32GB or larger.

 USB 3.0 Card Reader

Every photographer needs a fast card reader and the Lexar USB 3.0 multi-card reader is one of our favorites. Not only does it use the fast USB 3 connection for super fast read/write speeds, but it also has slots for all the most common cards used by cameras today. We find it nice to have a few of these at each workstation but also a few prepacked in our roller cases and camera bags.

Sandisk is one of our favorite memory card companies. We trust them so much that they are the only memory card  brand we put in any of our cameras. Today only you can save $9 on the Sandisk 64GB Extreme Pro SD card or save $17.20 on the Sandisk 64GB Extreme Pro CF card. I'm a big fan of using the largest cards possible in my cameras so I don't have to trade them out during a shoot, but if you want smaller sized cards, you can find other deals on the Sandisk Extreme Pro line here.

PNY Memory Cards

PNY is another memory card brand that a lot of people have come to trust. Today BH Photo has an insane deal on the PNY 128GB SD cards for only $39.99. These should be more than enough for extended shooting at say a wedding or timelapse session and they are fast enough to be used for HD video as well.

Awesome, I'll add it. I'd still prefer Sandisk but this is crazy for 128

Thanks, Patrick. I only sent this as I have a 32Gig PNY for over a year and it works just as well as my SanDisk cards. I prefer my SanDisk too, but for the price, its was impossible to pass up. @Ed Rhodes, I felt the same way, so I picked up 2 64Gig cards instead to mitigate my risk. I do believe that SD cards are more secure than CF's so I'm not worried at this time.

128GB cards scare me. Great if you're shooting video. For Stills, I'd rather have multiple 32GB cards. If all your shots are on one card and it fails, you're SOL. If your shooting on multiple, smaller cards, then you don't have all your eggs in one basket.
