If you are sick of carrying your camera around on your neck and not interested in spending money on overpriced straps, check out this simple tutorial for creating a cheap, simple, and durable wrist strap using paracord and some basic ingredients. In this three-minute video, German photographer Bo Ismono goes over the process step by step.
Speaking of overpriced straps, pre-made paracord straps are probably number one. You can easily spend $30–$50 on a basic strap, if not more. As shown in the tutorial, using about $7 worth of paracord, a small keyring, a lighter, a measuring tape, and a good old pair of scissors or a sharp knife, you can make your own for a lot less.
While I wouldn't recommend using a wrist strap if you are shooting for an extended period of time, I find that they are useful and I always seem to have an extra one on hand. They are great for when you don't want to deal with lengthy neck straps or just want a simple tether to your camera. I find that they are comfortable and work well for casual shooting and adventuring with your camera. While there are definitely some cool straps on the market out there, if you are on a budget and want a rugged, extra layer of protection for your camera, follow this tutorial and make your own paracord strap. I agree. But I like to make more useful stuff.
I paid for one of these because I hate straps around my neck and it's not obstructive but still keeps a grip on the camera. People keeping asking where I got mine so it's a good xmas present project for children.
i also have the same problem i have a blackrapid but i also have one made of paracord it looks great and is incredibly strong i have no problem to hang my camera with tele and flash attached on just the cord it's that strong and if its braided like this it can hold a few 100 kilo's

Very happy with mine, way better than commercial wrist and C-SLR Glide One straps that I have purchased. Have carried for hours with no problems and rapid access. Interior of paracord is white so wear shows easily. I used a smaller carabiner and no ring. BTW, make sure you leave a long enough unbraided section so you have easy access to the shutter release and controls.
Aside to "Prefers Film" Yes, I can afford good cameras; this is better than what I have seen on the market.
