This Humorous Photo Series Matches Gallery Visitors to the Artworks They're Gazing At

This photo series from Paris-based Photographer Stefan Draschan documents the funny moments that gallery visitors accidentally co-ordinate with the very works they are stopping to admire.

Draschan’s long-running project, simply entitled “People Matching Artworks,” is the result of much patience, as he usually prepares his camera near an artwork he feels has a high probability of matching with either the clothing or hairstyle of one of the gallery’s visitors. He then waits patiently, aiming to spot potential subjects, before hoping they make their way over to the piece.

For Draschan, the series has evoked questions over whether we are drawn to artworks that reflect colors or elements that we’re attracted to in our every day lives. Are we simply creatures of habit?

Evidently a fan of galleries, Draschan also has a number of other photo series set within art exhibition spaces. “People Touching Artworks” illustrated times he has spotted physical contact occurring between his subject and an art piece.

A third series is rather humorous, documenting the occasions he has caught people snoozing in a museum or gallery. Overloaded with all the culture surrounding them, no doubt.
