5 Bad Habits New Photographers Often Fall Into

Like any other craft, there are some common bad habits that new photographers often fall into, and these can both cause you to miss creative opportunities and to spend a lot of money you did not need to. This fantastic video tutorial features an experienced photographer sharing five common bad habits and how to avoid them to put yourself on the right track.

Coming to you from Jiggie Alejandrino, this excellent video tutorial discusses five common bad habits new photographers fall into and what you can do to avoid them. Perhaps the most common I see is obsessing over gear, and blaming it for a lack of technique. That is not to say that there are not situations in which a certain piece of gear will make your life easier or enable a shot that might not have been possible otherwise. However, photographers often vastly overestimate how much a lack of gear is affecting their work and underestimate how much working on technique will improve their work. Before you pull out your credit card (especially considering how expensive camera gear is), be honest with yourself by asking if some practice will get the shot you want. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Alejandrino.
