Your portfolio is your calling card for potential clients and the thing by which they will decide if they want to hire you. This excellent video tutorial will give you five tips for improving your portfolio.
Coming to you from Chelsea Nicole Photography, this great video tutorial will show you five tips for improving your photo portfolio. One mistake I see photographers make quite a lot (and that I am plenty guilty of myself) is not being selective enough with what they put in their portfolio. Because of our personal connections to our own work, it is very tempting to overfill our portfolios. On the other hand, a potential client will not feel those personal connections, and unfortunately, even if your portfolio of 20 photos has 19 fantastic photos and just one dud, that one bad shot tends to stick in the memory. It is much better to have half as many photos in your portfolio and for each of them to be the best of your work. Do not be afraid to be brutally selective and objective when evaluating each potential shot in your portfolio, and do not forget to come back to re-evaluate old photos as you continue to improve and your style evolves. Check out the video above for the full rundown.
