How to Make Your Photography Thrive

Photography is a lifelong commitment. There is always something new to learn, an interesting subject to photograph, and a skill to improve. How do you avoid stagnating? This great video discusses the topic and how one photographer keeps himself motivated to continually evolve and grow as a creative.

Coming to you from aows, this excellent video discusses the importance of change and being willing to expose yourself to new situations, places, techniques, and creative ideas. It can be very easy to stagnate as a photographer. We find subjects, editing styles, and techniques we like, and start to lean on them. After all, it is a natural human habit to find something we are comfortable doing and to stick with it. And that is a good thing to a degree: we need techniques and styles we can rely on, particularly when we make money from our photography. At the same time, though, there needs to be a balance: pushing yourself outside your comfort zone allows you to grow as a creative, to stay competitive, and most importantly, to stay satisfied. So, don't be afraid to occasionally head to a new location, try a new lighting setup, or experiment with an unusual edit. Check out the video above for the full rundown.
