One of the Most Important Qualities of Any Successful Photographer

It takes a lot of different skills and qualities to become a competent photographer, but one of the most important of those has nothing to do with a camera, but rather your ability to keep at it despite setbacks or discouragement. If you want to step up to the next level, check out this fantastic video that will remind you why persistence is one of the most important qualities of any successful photographer.

Coming to you from Courtney Victoria, this excellent video discusses the importance of persistence in photography. As Victoria discusses, even the best photographers often miss the shot they are after on the first try, and it takes returning to a location multiple times to get things just right. The same idea applies to learning photography. It is the kind of thing where you can quickly learn the basics — things like exposure parameters and the like — but moving from competence to true mastery is a slow and winding path. There really is no shortcut for mastery; it takes passion and dedication to the craft, often on the order of years. Simple persistence is often what separates successful photographers from those who burn out. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Victoria.
