Six Portrait Photography Tips for Beginners

Portrait photography is by far one of the most popular genres of photography, and it comes with its own sets of challenges and things you should keep in mind. If you're new to portrait work, this great video will give you six helpful tips and tricks.

Coming to you from Saurav Sinha, this helpful video will show you six things that will help make you a better portrait photographer. In addition to the tips talked about in the video, it's important to always remember that portrait photography is often more psychology than it is photography. When you're first starting out and trying to deal with learning settings and technique, it can be easy to become so buried in your camera that you forget to make your subject comfortable. Always try to keep at least half your attention on your subject and keep a conversation going with them so the poses don't become overly static and they don't feel awkward or unsure what to do with themselves. This will help to keep your subject's looks more organic and your images more natural. And if you'd like to see the master himself working with subjects, check out "Peter Hurley: Perfecting the Headshot."
